A duck pond.

We couldn't resist putting the decoys in the thawed out pond. We'll see how many passerbys take a second glance! 

Frozen

It's been really cold here, and it's only getting colder! Yesterday afternoon Matilde noticed the pond had frozen over. I guess I haven't noticed just how cold it has been lately. I feel like it snuck up on us. One day it was fairly mild and the next it was below freezing! I just hope we get snow this year. 

Google

In all of the chicken and the egg talk we almost forget to introduce our turtle, Google. He is a survivor! He once was forced out of his pool, off the deck, down a flight of stairs and lived under a planter for two weeks before we found him. He resides inside throughout the winter and suns himself outside on warm rocks in the summer.
