Silky, silky now

I think the heat has gotten to our corn field/patch/bed. We have ears growing on a few stalks, but the stalks are only about 3 feet tall instead of six feet tall. We'll have to wait and see what happens next. Keep your fingers crossed. 

Posse on Delridge

Yesterday morning, the girls and I were headed to the bus stop and we ran into our little friend. We have been trying to catch this guy for a while now without success. Evan stated that he now has street smarts and can dodge cars and people with the best of them. I just eyeballed that girl. Street smarts! Ha! 

They're finally growing!

All I can think about is blueberry cobbler when I see these beautiful berries out front, but I don't think they'll make it that far! 

An apple a day...

Our apples are growing and I can smell them as I walk by. It makes me smile. If you've ever smelled apples on trees, then you know the smile I'm talking about. It's not forced. It's a smile that you didn't even realize was there until someone says, "Why the smile?". It's a good feeling that warms you through and through. I grew that. I grew that apple. It took three years. It's finally here, and I welcome it with a smile. 

I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

They're here! They're here!! 

I have visions of honey on biscuits and on pancakes and on spoons!! 

I hope these little buzzing and beautiful babies will enjoy pollinating our west seattle neighborhood until they can't take it anymore! 

Wish us luck. It's our first installation. I've researched the procedure, so it should be smooth sailing. Cross your fingers that they like their new home. Did I mention that I'm excited?!

Grapes

Out of our three plants, these white grapes have really taken off! I still think we have a couple years before we get any fruit, but I'm sure it's worth the wait!

OH MY GOODNESS!

Look what I found!! 

Our pears are here. They are growing and I am beyond excited! Three years ago we asked Evan what fruit she wanted to grow and she picked pears. She said she wanted to go outside and pick her pear to put in her lunch box. Next fall, as an eighth grader, she will be able to do just that. 

The thought warms my heart. ❤️🍐
