Hugh Mung Us Are Vest (say it aloud and quickly)

Matilde and I harvested a ton of mixed salad greens. If we continue to harvest, our plants will continue to produce, so we decided to share our bounty with our neighbors! Our neighbors to the left, right and directly across the street each received a gallon bag full of lettuces to enjoy. Matilde had fun delivering them and giving directions such as "please wash them before you eat them," and "if there's a yucky one just throw it in the compost!"  They each got a kick out of that. :) 

Andy and I feel that it's important to connect with our neighbors, and if sharing a little bit of salad assists in building our community then why not share. I hope they enjoyed eating it as much as we enjoyed growing it! 

Spinach

We are pretty sure these plants went to seed, but we are not exactly sure why. I think they are diseased and infecting our beets. Don't know what to do next. I guess we'll look it up and ask around because there's not much left to do. 

Popeye would be proud!

Our spinach is looking good! Our little plants are really coming in. I want to eat the baby leaves, but I will patient and wait until there is enough to go around....or until there is enough for a salad! 

That's a BIG salad!

Here are a ton of salad greens and radishes that we planted in order to use our empty space. The melons will take longer to grow, so we planted lettuces that are quick to mature in the mean time. 

Head of Lettuce

Our head of lettuce is looking rounder and rounder every day. It has been fun checking in on how it is growing. Perfectly round!
