Yesteday...

I noticed my perfect little berry missing yesterday afternoon, so I asked everyone present if they had seen it. Immediately, Matilde asked which strawberry I was talking about. I showed her a picture of it and asked if she had eaten it. She said, "I don't know what you're talking about!" I gave her a look. You know which look I'm talking about, and she shouted, "but it was RIPED!!!"  That's when I snapped the picture.

New Berries

Everyone in our house has been eyeballing this small and perfect strawberry. It so sweetly hangs over the edge of the planter ripening in the glow of the afternoon sun. Who will be the lucky one?

My guess is HEATHER! Hahaha
Our dear friend Heather plucked our very first cherry tomato from the vine a few years back.  Everyone would admire that tomato and we would talk incessantly about how proud we were for having grown it. I look back and still chuckle at that.  She saw it, it was ripe and needed to be eaten, so she ate it!

Harvest time!

Matilde and I enjoyed harvesting our first of the strawberries!  After she dropped all of them and then stepped on two, we brought in about a dozen. They are delicious, sweet and juicy. Well worth the wait and there are PLENTY more where they came from just waiting for the sun to ripen them to perfection. 🍓🍓🍓

Almost there!

Well, this berry anyway, but where there is one there will soon be many! Matilde has already "called" this one, so the rest of us will have to wait to taste the sweet juice of an organic homegrown strawberry.

Strawberries, strawberries everywhere!

The strawberry plants are still growing wild and free both in the planter boxes and in the hanging planters. They all look like they will produce wonderful fruit. We just cannot wait!  Now our only concern is our main predator....Matilde! She gobbles them up every chance she gets. We'll have to keep a watchful eye on that little strawberry sneaker.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

One of the last strawberries of the season. Very sweet.  Very red.  Worth the wait.

Our first taste of the corn we grew. It was so sweet and delicious!  Thank you Gary for advising us to only pick when we are ready to eat it in order to retain the natural sweetness of the plant. We appreciate the tips!  Everyone is welcome to pass them along!

Jen has been begging for some salsa.  We are another small step closer to filling her order!

Strawberry Fields Forever

We harvested a ton of strawberries and they were gone almost as fast as they were plucked from the vine!
